With Tweakwise's search algorithm, products are displayed based on the user's search query. By using search algorithm weighting, you can gain more control over how products are ranked in search results. In this article, we explain what it is, what the benefits are and how you can set it up in the app.

What is search algorithm weighting?
Search algorithm weighting allows you to adjust the importance of certain search algorithms by assigning them a weight. These weights range from 0 to 1, with a higher weight indicating that a search algorithm has more influence on the final ranking of search results.
In addition, you can set for each algorithm whether, after finding results in a particular search algorithm, it is allowed to continue searching in the next algorithm or whether it stops and immediately displays the products found.
How do you set the search algorithm weighting?
Setting the search algorithm can be done very easily. To do so, follow the following steps:
- Select which algorithms you want to use from the drop down at the bottom of the page
A complete funnel can then look like this:Read the article How do search algorithms work? - Tweakwise, to learn how the different algorithms work to then determine which ones are relevant to you. Contact Support if you could use help.
- Indicate the weighting for each search algorithm. With this you determine how important the result from the particular search algorithm is compared to the other algorithms.
- For each search algorithm, indicate whether, after finding result, the successor search algorithm has to search further or whether it shows stop and equal result.
- Determine the weighting of the Merchandising rule. This specifies how heavily the score from the default sorting option should weigh in the sorting of the search results.
- Save the search algorithm and publish the settings.
- Test the result in the Demoshop .
You can see the score of the search phrase in the Demoshop via the button which gives you more insight into what determines the sorting of the search results.
Good to know:
- The Word seach optionally uses Full Text Ranking to determine how relevant a product is to the search phrase.
- The priority option is gone from the previous situation. You can now set this by adding multiple word search algorithms, adding the most important attributes in the word search with a higher weighting and the rest in the second word search with a lower weighting.
- The search algorithm weighting only affects the order of the products within the search results. The positions you reserved in the Builder or Pins will keep their position as set in these modules.
