The Boost & Bury module allows you to influence product positions by either 'boosting' them (moving them up in the ranking) or 'burying' them (moving them down). It acts as a strategic layer on top of your standard sorting, allowing you to give specific groups of products a nudge in the right direction.
Below, we explain step-by-step how to set up a boost or bury rule.
Creating a new rule
Navigate to Commerce Pages > Boost & Bury in the Tweakwise App. Here, you will see an overview of all your rules.
Click New.
Name and Type: Give your rule a recognizable name and choose the type:
Boost: To move items higher in the ranking.
Bury: To move items lower (without removing them completely).
3. Define what to boost/bury: Specify which products should be affected.
Step 1: Choose a component from the list, for example, the Attribute Component.
Step 2: Select an attribute (e.g., 'Brand') and a value (e.g., 'Tweakwise').
Where and when is the rule active?
Next, determine the scope of your rule. You must choose at least one of the following two options:
Lister pages (Category pages): Target specific categories. The rule will automatically apply to all underlying (child) categories as well.
Search results: Apply the rule to all search queries or only to specific search terms (e.g., only for the word 'shirt').
Schedule: Set a start and end time. This is ideal for seasonal campaigns or temporary promotions. This setting is optional and can be left disabled.
Determining the strength of the effect
You can decide how aggressively a product should be moved. We offer four presets:
Light
Moderate
Strong
Aggressive
Need more precision? Turn on the "I want fine-tuned control" toggle to use a scale from 1 to 10 (and beyond) for manual adjustment.
Important note: Boost & Bury rules are calculated before the Merchandising Builder. This means that if a Boost rule places an item in the first position, the Builder cannot move it back to a lower position.
Overview and management
You can manage all your rules in the overview screen:
Filtering: Easily search by status, type, or schedule.
Management: Use the three dots menu to delete, copy, or edit rules.
Quota: On the right side, you can immediately see how many Boost & Bury rules you are currently using and how many are remaining in your package.
