How does assigning languages to a category or storeview work?

By linking a language to a category or storeview, you ensure that Tweakwise automatically displays the correct language on the storefront and that the search functionality operates optimally for that language.

Where do you link the language?

You assign a language at the category or storeview level within the category tree:

  1. In the Tweakwise App, navigate to Catalog > Categories.

  2. Select the desired category or storeview (for example, your Dutch or English storefront).

  3. Under the category settings, select the corresponding language that you configured in the Translation Module (such as Dutch or English).

  4. Save the changes and publish.

What is the impact on your webshop?

  • Automatically the correct language on the shop: Through this link, Tweakwise instantly recognizes which language a visitor sees on that part of the webshop and automatically displays the corresponding translations.

  • Optimized search results: The linked language ensures that Tweakwise automatically uses the correct language dictionary for search queries within this category. This allows language-dependent features (such as plurals, verb conjugations, and specific filler words) to be processed correctly.

💡 Good to know: Linking a language to a category does not automatically translate the text of your filters (such as Kleur / Color or Show more). You fill in these translations once directly within the filter template itself.
