The Items module allows you to manually create, modify, or duplicate items (in addition to the items that come in via the product feed). This is ideal for quickly correcting or adding individual items or visuals. Although you can also supply visuals via a separate feed, manual adding via the app is ideal for small, unique items.
Creating and preparing a visual for use consists of three parts: Linking, Configuration, and Finalizing. Follow the steps for each part.
Linking the item_type property
Before you can create a visual, you must link the item_type property. This is done as follows:
Navigate to Catalog > Attributes and search for the item_type attribute.
Click the three dots and select Use as.
Select Item Type and click Save
Configuring the visual
Navigate to Catalog > Items.
Click the + New button.
Choose the Type: Select a visual as the item type instead of a product. If it is not already listed, you can type it yourself here.
4. Fill in the basic data:
The ID is generated automatically, but you can adjust it.
Name is a mandatory field and helps you find the Visual later.
Price and Stock are still mandatory fields, but you can fill these fields with '0'.
Please note: the steps for filling in the basic data and configuring properties are otherwise identical to creating a regular product. Consult the support article about Item management for more details on working with the attributes.
5. Image and link: the URLs for the images and links come from linked properties. You can only add the image URL and the link (URL) by selecting and filling in the correct properties that contain the URL values.
6. Add properties: link the visual to specific attributes. This is crucial if you want to display the visual based on certain conditions. Select existing properties or directly add a new attribute or value.
7. Link category: link the visual to one or more categories where it should be displayed. Please note: For a visual, the category is an optional choice.
Finalizing the visual
Check whether all necessary fields have been filled in.
Click Save to add the visual to the Tweakwise database.
Publish: Go to Connectivity and run the publish data task. The new visual is only available in modules such as Builder and Recommendations after publishing.
2. Important notes ⚠️
Required fields: ID, Name Price and Stock are mandatory fields when creating a visual. Fill out a '0' for the fields Price and Stock.
File location: ensure that the URL you use for the image is valid and permanently available, otherwise the visual will not be shown on your webshop.
Display conditions: without linked attributes or categories, it is difficult to target a visual. Always link the relevant categories and/or create a unique attribute (e.g., visual_type: banner_homepage) if you want to display it later via the Builder.
3. FAQ❓
What is the difference between creating a product and a visual?
The process is the same, but the intention for a visual is that it does not have a purchasing function.
Can I import visuals via a feed as well?
Yes, you can also supply visuals via a separate feed or as part of the product feed. Manual creation in the app is an alternative for a quick, one-time addition.
How do I get the visual to show up on my webshop?
You need to add the visual to a lister page (such as a category or search page) using the Builder module. The Item Management module only makes the visual available.
What is the recommended image size in Visual?
There is no standard size to recommend. It depends on the shop, the number of products per row, and how tall or wide these tiles are. The most important thing is that the image has a good height-to-width ratio.
