How does the Fuzzy Search algorithm work?

The Fuzzy Search algorithm is the last option in your search funnel. If there are no results on the entire search phrase, this algorithm will do its best to find some results based on any and all words in the search phrase. All products that contain one or multiple search terms from the search phrase will be selected. You can see the Fuzzy Search algorithm as a last resort: showing anything is better than nothing!

Search properties

The algorithm lets you choose various attributes using the dropdown; these are search attributes. Search attributes are the attributes of a product that are allowed to be searched through. You see, Tweakwise doesn't search through all attributes by default. The selection of search attributes depends on the kind of shop. For example, product name, brand, category, product type, color, material, et cetera. Consult the list of most popular search terms to determine which search properties you should use.

You can also add autocorrect to your attributes.

Synonyms

The Fuzzy search algorithm considers these conditions regarding set synonyms:

  • Synonyms only work on the product name

  • Synonyms don't work in combination with other terms in the query
