Suggestions

There are two ways to fill the search phrase suggestions:
1. Automatic suggestions
See: module Suggestions > Established suggestions

  • When you first start using the Tweakwise app, the suggestion database will be empty. This means visitors will not see any suggestions when entering a search request. However, the search phrase database might already contain some search requests from the demo shop.
  • Every time a visitor enters a search request that leads to one or more results, the search phrase or word will be saved as a suggestion. We apply the Wisdom of the Crowd principle to this feature.
  • If certain search requests should not be used as a suggestion, you can always add these to the blacklist. To do this, go to Suggestions > Established suggestions' and click the black flame icon.
  • The module Suggestions > Blacklist suggestions' contains all blacklisted search requests. Here you can also manually add new search requests to the blacklist. You can use wildcards to do this. Using wildcards, you can blacklist all suggestions which contain a certain word by using an asterisk (*). See the examples below on how to use the asterisk to add the suggestion ‘book’ to the blacklist:
    • book: Everything that is an exact match to 'book'
    • book*: Everything that starts with 'book'
    • *book: Everything that ends on 'book'
    • *book*: Everything that contains 'book'

2. Manual suggestions

See: module Suggestions > Manual suggestions
You can also add your own suggestions. Supply the desired search query suggestion and the storeview in which it should be active. This way, your Dutch shop will not contain any French suggestions. These manual suggestions are always shown above the automatically suggestions and the blacklist will not be applied to the suggestions.

Please note: suggestions will only be visible in the webshop (or demo shop) after a publication. New suggestions are processed every hour. Therefore it can take up to an hour before the suggestions can be seen in the search function of your website (or the demo shop).
